Somerset based commercial property developer Summerfield are pleased to have given a cheque for £2,902 to local charity Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance following a fundraising Boules tournament and charity golf day.

The Boules Tournament held at Woodlands Castle, Taunton saw teams of Mexicans, mime artists and Hawaiians join Summerfield on a chilly afternoon to showcase their fancy dress and Boules skills. The golfers, by contrast, enjoyed fine October weather at Taunton & Pickeridge Golf Club, Corfe. Richard Lloyd, Summerfield’s Executive Chairman, was happy to hand over the donation. “The golf day is an annual event and this was the fifth year we have held a Boules Tournament to raise much-needed funds for charities across Somerset. We are very happy to be supporting Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and feel privileged to be shown the helicopter by the people who provide such a vital service.”

Debbie Birtwisle, fundraising co-ordinator for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, said of the donation, “Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance relies on donations like this to keep flying. Our operational costs are over £2 million a year and the approximate cost per mission equates to £2,500. We are so grateful to Summerfield for choosing us as their charity for this year’s event which will help fund one of those life-saving missions.”
