St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has completed work on two new roads at the £210 million Skypark scheme in Exeter, marking the completion of the site’s infrastructure.
Ian Guy, Senior Development Manager for St. Modwen, Devon County Council’s joint venture partner for the 20 year Skypark project, said: “These new roads link right through the development and mark the completion of £3.5 million worth of investment in road and services infrastructure at Skypark. With these elements of the site now finished all of the site’s key infrastructure is now in place for occupiers to enjoy this unique working environment. The new roads and services create a large number of immediately available serviced plots on which to start construction and deliver buildings for occupiers in short timescales.”
Cllr Andrew Leadbetter, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Growth, added: “We are committed to helping create the climate for companies to expand and entrepreneurs to start up new businesses in Devon, and that is exactly what is happening at Skypark.
“This investment in the area’s key infrastructure will unlock access to new employment sites which are vital for Devon’s economic growth.”
Skypark will also benefit from a five acre public realm area. Once complete it will create a naturally picturesque entrance into the development, which lines the site’s frontage along the Clyst Honiton bypass.
The public realm area will also include a tree-lined avenue into the development surrounded by grassland and hedges as well as ornamental plants and shrubbery native to the area. Trim Trail exercise stations have been provided to encourage use by joggers and walkers as well as 16,000 sq ft of woodland area.
Ian Guy, continued: “The public realm area will provide a pictorial and inviting entrance into the Skypark development, as well as fantastic recreational space for business occupiers to enjoy.”
Leader of East Devon District Council, Cllr Paul Diviani, said: “With the new Clyst Honiton bypass fully operational, the public realm area will create the perfect first impression for other commercial enterprises looking to locate to Skypark.”
On completion, the 110 acre Skypark site, one of the key developments forming part of the Exeter and East Devon Growth Point initiative, will provide 1.4 million sq ft of warehouse, industrial and office space and deliver up to 6,500 new jobs.
