First convenience store to come to Hibaldstow next year

Renovation work on a run-down site in Hibaldstow, North Lincolnshire started this week in order to make way for the village’s first ever convenience store.

The soon-to-be Co-operative convenience store will be situated on the corner of Redbourne Road and West Street and will be opened next year after extensive work on the site.

Planning permission for the site was granted earlier this year after property consultants Bruton Knowles brokered the deal with The Co-op and Saxondale properties.

Associate for Bruton Knowles Stuart Hastings said: “We are pleased to have worked with The Co-op to deliver this store – the community retailer will be a great addition to the village.

“We originally identified the site a potential store location, and were delighted when The Co-op also saw the benefits of the location. Saxondale Properties will now develop the site after purchasing it from a private landowner.

“Residents in Hibaldstow currently do not have a convenience store so this new shop is a much-needed facility which many residents have wished for many years. The development also means a run-down site in the area will be tidied up and it will create several jobs for local people in the area.

“We look forward to seeing the store when the building is completed and wish The Co-op the best of luck in their new store.”

The site, once complete, will also offer 22 parking spaces to customers. Work started on the 3,000 square foot new build on 19 October.

Mark Draper, regional acquisition manager for The Co-operative Food, said: “As a community retailer, we are pleased to have the opportunity to serve the Hibaldstow community as we invest to transform and grow our convenience business.

“The Co-op is creating new jobs in the region through developing new stores and by investing in our existing stores to ensure that they deliver excellent customer service. The Co-op is also investing in lowering the price of everyday essentials, including pruning the price of fresh fruit and veg and introducing revolving offers on popular produce known as ‘fresh three’.

“We are confident that our new store will be a real asset to the community. It will have a focus on fresh, healthy foods, meal ideas and essentials and as a community retailer, and a co-operative, it will play its part in local life too – we look forward to serving the community.”
