SW firework company hired for Chinese New Year Celebrations … in China

A South West firework company has been hired by the Mayor of a Chinese city known as the ‘City of Fireworks’ to create a display for its Chinese New Year celebrations.

Skyburst Firework Company with bases in Upper Langford and Bedminster will travel to Liuyang in the Hunan Province where they will fire a specially created display to mark the end of the Chinese New Year.

Mayor Liang Zhong invited the company to create the display, for China’s most famous firework city, on one of the regular trips made to the region to source materials.

Skyburst managing director Alan Christie said: “It is a huge honour to have been asked by the mayor of Liuyang, which is the largest manufacturing base for fireworks in the world, to create a display for their celebrations.

“We travel to the region regularly because they have the best firework products on offer and we buy them for displays back in the UK. It was on one of these trips that we were asked and we’ve been working on creating a spectacular display for them ever since.

“While China has the best quality and variety of firework products, we are experts at putting those fireworks in a display. Our technology and pyrodigital software means we can create magnificent, complex effects and time our shows to music. Our techniques are cutting edge so we’re very excited to be representing the UK over there.”

Skyburst has a history of providing professional firework displays which dates back over 30 years. Based in the South West but operating across the whole of the UK, Skyburst has delivered major displays including the Bristol Balloon Fiesta, Brixham Festival, Bridgewater Carnival and the Tall Ship Race.
Skyburst also has a shop in Bedminster where they stock a large range of fireworks, with experts on hand to help you choose the right show to suit your event.

Alan continued: “While we are in Liuyang we plan to source new material suitable for Diamond Jubilee displays later in the year. Firewriting products, red, white and blue fireworks and sparkling diamond effects are all on the shopping list!”
