Scores of businessmen and women on course for charity golf match to raise money for bereaved children

Scores of businessmen and women are on course to take part in a charity golf match in the South for bereaved children.

The 18-hole event, being held near Bournemouth on September 24, is already attracting participation pledges from the business community across Dorset and Hampshire.

Money raised by the golf day at the Dudsbury Golf Club in Ferndown will benefit the work of Mosaic.

Mosaic provides counselling and support for children, young people and their families who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or loved one.

Rob Ward, a Mosaic volunteer who works for RBS, is organising the event with Mosaic fundraiser Katie Hensman.

He said: “A lot of businesses have already come forward to pledge their involvement for an excellent charity which offers comfort to children grappling with the emotional fall-out from of a loved one dying.

“Figures show that 41,000 children under the age of 18 are bereaved of a parent in the UK each year.”

Katie, who works out of Mosaic’s office in Blandford Forum, said: “We’re grateful to the business community across Dorset and Hampshire for their interest at this early stage.

“A residential weekend for up to 25 bereaved children costs in the region of £5,500. All being well, we are on course for 16 teams of four people, which will make a significant contribution towards funding a residential weekend.”

Entry fee is £230 per team. No handicap is required in the scoring competition, which is followed by a rolling dinner and raffle.

Competitions on Thursday, September 24, include beat the pro, nearest the pin and putting.

Sponsorship of 17 holes is also available, the 18th having already been covered by Deep South Media, a content specialist.
