Business advisory firm celebrates record turnover

A Cardiff-based business advisory firm has announced a record breaking year having increased its turnover to over 250 per cent of its first year.

Greenaway Scott, which was set up in 2013 by leading corporate lawyer Nigel Greenaway, has experienced significant growth in its second year.

Notable achievements in 2014 include the firm acting for Designer Carbon Materials Limited on its spin out from Oxford University, which consequently led to Greenaway Scott being appointed by ISIS Innovation, the commercialisation arm of Oxford University, to the legal panel of advisors available to advise future spin outs.

The firm has also advised on a number of high profile matters including the sale of Biotec Worldwide Supplies Group Limited to US-based Packaging Coordinators Inc (PCI), the Pinnacle Telecoms management buy-out, investment into technology based business Imspex Diagnostics Limited, Cyrus-RW Group acquisition of Bradford Cylinders, PhotonStar LED Group PLC placing on the AIM stock exchange and GeoVS Limited disposal to Software Radio Technology Plc.

Nigel Greenaway, director at Greenaway Scott, said: “We enjoyed an extremely successful year which is down to the hard work of our team. To match our first year’s turnover within the first six months of 2014 was a fantastic achievement and to go on and grow revenue by over 250 per cent of our first year is something that we are really proud of.

“Highlights include representing clients in a number of high profile deals and being appointed by ISIS Innovation, which is the highest university patent filer in the UK and is ranked 1st in the UK for university spin-outs.”

Over the next four years, the firm’s directors are looking to continue its ambitious growth plans by opening new offices along the M4 corridor and replicating the business model from its Cardiff office with specialist corporate and dual qualified commercial teams.

Greenaway continued: “My vision for Greenaway Scott has always been to offer a new type of law firm, which is run as a commercial business, with the focus on client satisfaction and the provision of specialist, legal and commercially considered advice. We’re now a trusted business advisory firm and our lawyers form an integral addition to our clients’ teams. I’m delighted that my vision for the company is proving successful and I’m confident we will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Greenaway Scott provide corporate, commercial and intellectual property advice to companies, with particular sector specialisms in the life science, technology, pharmaceutical and IT sectors. The commercial team is made up of solicitors who are dual-qualified and have either a mathematics or science degree as well as legal qualifications to ensure all advisors have a strong understanding of the firm’s clients’ markets.

The firm focuses on the provision of sharp, practical, commercially focused legal advice to businesses and advises clients on spin-outs and commercialisation, brand and intellectual property protection, mergers and acquisitions and equity investments.
