IT company announces new Welsh office

A business IT services company has announced it is expanding its presence in Wales with a new office in Cardiff.

Computerworld Systems Ltd, which was founded over 20 years ago and is headquartered in Bristol, is expanding their Wales territory team into a six person serviced office in The Maltings, an iconic Grade II listed building in the heart of the capital.

The company, which provides IT and infrastructure consultancy, has experienced significant growth in Wales since launching a satellite office at The Maltings in August 2014 and is consequently taking on a permanent base as it plans to further ramp up its operation.

As part of the expansion, Computerworld is looking to recruit more than six sales and technical staff to support its ambitious growth plans.

John Armstrong, managing director of Computerworld, said: “We have enjoyed record year-on-year organic growth over the past five years. We have had a satellite office in Wales for a few years now but, due to an increase in demand from customers, we are now in a position to be able to have a permanent Cardiff office. Taking on the new office demonstrates our commitment to Wales and our ambitions to grow our client base here.

“The Maltings is the ideal place for our Welsh HQ as it is in an ideal location in the heart of Cardiff, has excellent meeting facilities, modern offices and is extremely cost effective. It also gives us the flexibility to take on additional space as we grow and doesn’t tie us into long leases which is important for businesses, like ours, who are still establishing a presence in a new market.”

Computerworld is the latest business to sign up to premises at The Maltings, joining new tenants communications agency, Cowshed, which moved into a three person serviced office last month.

Kathy Fox, managing director of The Maltings, said: “We are delighted that both Computerworld and Cowshed have taken office space with us. Our collection of serviced office suites have been designed to cater for growing businesses, whether they are start-ups or more established SMEs. Computerworld is a well-established company having been trading for over twenty years, but is now embarking on the next stage of their growth in Wales and Cowshed is an exciting new start-up with an innovative creative vision.

“With flexible tenure, all-inclusive, cost effective rental arrangements, we are in a great position to accommodate both businesses and look forward to watching both companies develop and grow.”

The Maltings has been established for thirty years as a centre for Records Management and Document Storage, as well as a provider of self-managed and serviced office space.

The Maltings has begun a refurbishment programme which has seen the company invest £3m in developing vacant storage space into state-of-the-art serviced and self-managed offices and improved facilities for existing and new clients. To date, the company has introduced a café, a fully equipped on-site modern gym, meeting rooms, conference and video conferencing facilities, communal kitchen areas, shower rooms and break-out seating areas.
