HME Technology working well in Wales

HME Technology, a top manufacturer and installer of design and technology equipment, has won a £195,000 contract in Wales.

The Bromsgrove-based firm has picked up the work through furniture provider Portsdown on behalf of main contractor Leadbitter, a Bouygues UK company.

Julian Davis, HME managing director, said: “It represents a very substantial piece of business for us.

“Word about our quality products and services is getting round – we would like to do more in Wales and hopefully we can build on significant orders such as this.”

Penarth Learning Community is a £39.4 million project creating two new establishments in a single building on the site of St Cyres School in the town.

As well as providing modern facilities for the mainstream comprehensive, it will create a new special education needs facility, Ysgol y Deri, accommodating pupils from three existing SEN schools in the area, Ysgol Erw’r Delyn, Ysgol Maes Dyfan and Ashgrove.

The education complex is being built on the existing playing fields, with pupils from St Cyres moving into their new school in October and Ysgol y Deri being occupied from December.

The redundant St Cyres School buildings will be demolished to make way for new sporting facilities, with two gyms and an all-weather artificial turf pitch. Outside teaching spaces, including a wildlife garden and allotments, will be established.

Leadbitter is also building a respite centre for SEN pupils and their parents as part of the scheme.

Founded in 1984, HME Technology products include forges, brazing hearths, furnaces, welding tables, fume extraction systems, kilns, woodworking equipment, wood dust extraction systems, metal finishing and CNC machines. It also supplies fume cupboards and ventilation systems for science departments.
