Chantrey Vellacott strengthens its Midlands team

Leading chartered accountants and business advisers ChantreyVellacott has strengthened its support for businesses in the Midlands.

The firm, which has offices in Birmingham, Northampton and Leicester, has appointed Adam Grant into a new joint-role encompassing commercial finance and supporting businesses to claim Research and Development (R&D) tax credits.

Adam, who is from Cradley Heath in the Black Country, is also working alongside ChantreyVellacott’s Business Recovery Division as well as supporting the firm’s general practice clients.

The 37-year-old has more than 14 years of experience working in business finance across the region, including eight years with NatWest and spells with Barclays Bank and most recently BCRS Business Loans.

“This is a newmulti-faceted role for the firm which I’m excited to be taking on,” he said.

“I’ve been brought in to help businesses raise finance in these most difficult times. Despite the Government’s pledge to increase bank lending to UK businesses, my experience leads me to believe that access to finance remains one of the major challenges facing business owners.

“I will be working predominantly with companies who have debt requirements of less than £1 million – to expand, make acquisitions, develop new products and ultimately become more successful and also help them take advantage of financial support that is already out there, such as R&D tax credits.”

Grant will also be working alongside the Corporate Finance team at ChantreyVellacott where cash requirements are larger.
He added: “Finding the right debt structure to enable small and medium sized businesses to manage their cash flow and realise their full potential is something I’m extremely passionate about.

“Likewise, providing the right support for companies when times may not be as good is equally as important and I’m working closely with Craig Povey who heads up the Business Recovery Division in the Midlands.

“I’ve worked alongside Craig on numerous turnarounds and business restructures in the past, so knew all about the growth of ChantreyVellacott in recent years and I’m pleased to be part of the team and the future of the firm.”
