Team expansion, office relocation and substantial client revenue growth for PR agency

Award-winning public relations and creative communications agency Cake has moved to a larger Cardiff Bay office and expanded its team during a period of unprecedented growth.

The agency has moved to new headquarters on West Bute Street, in the heart of Cardiff Bay’s creative quarter, in the wake of its most successful trading year to date.  Cake has announced it is on track to double turnover by the end of the current financial year, and has moved in order to accommodate its expanding team in Cardiff.

The firm has reported quarter on quarter growth of 20% for the past three quarters, after a series of new client wins that have included Capitol Shopping, broadband provider Xwavia, global steel firm AIC Steel, global healthcare brand Allmed and Community Housing Cymru.

Cake, which marks its third birthday in July, has recently rebranded to ‘Cake: Brighter Comms’ and has made a number of strategic appointments to support its growing client base.

The company has recruited Kate Anderson as Account Executive, promoted Rebecca Goodhand to Account Manager and appointed Ruth Walters as Agency Manager.

Ms Anderson is an English Literature graduate of Cardiff University. Originally from Merseyside, she boasts impressive third sector experience following a Wales-wide fundraising management role at Oxfam. Originally joining Cake as a paid intern, Miss Anderson impressed the senior team and has been offered a permanent role where she will focus on the firm’s growing number of not-for-profit and charity clients.

Instrumental to the company’s recent growth, Miss Goodhand has been with the company for 18 months. With experience spanning global healthcare brands including GlaxoSmithKline, Roche and Janssen, she has been responsible for growing the agency’s international client portfolio and continued move into the healthcare sector. At Cake, Miss Goodhand has led high-profile campaigns for National Adoption Week and 1000 Lives Plus, and scooped a Chartered Institute of Public Relations  (CIPR) PRide gold award for a campaign for women’s economic development charity Chwarae Teg.

Ms Walters boasts nearly a decade of PR experience, having held senior roles at a number of London PR agencies including Weber Shandwick. She has worked with Cake in a freelance capacity since returning to Cardiff from London last summer. In her new role she will be responsible for the operational management of the agency and ensuring clients continue to receive exceptional service levels.

Cake’s Managing Director Sara Robinson said:

“We have our longstanding clients to thank for the reputation they have allowed us to establish in Wales and beyond.

“Since opening a base in Canary Wharf in 2013, we have won an increasing amount of business outside Wales, and we are increasingly delivering integrated solutions far beyond the realms of what is considered traditional PR.

“Social media consultancy and training have been significant revenue streams for us, and clients continue to trust us to help them punch above their weight with national and international media relations.

“We are delighted to welcome two new additions to our talented, growing team and to promote Rebecca, who has been instrumental in our growth this year. We feel very much at home in our new surroundings and confident about the future.”
