New sponsorship deal for Glamorgan Cricket

Glamorgan Cricket and the RAF Reserves have signed an exciting new deal which will see the two organisations working in partnership for the 2014 season.

614 (County of Glamorgan) Squadron, RAF Reserves will feature prominently on the back of the team’s shirts for the NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup competitions, in a bid to promote the recruitment of reserves by exposing them to a new audience – one that fits with the target demographic for reservists.

The deal will also see RAF advertising featuring prominently throughout the ground on match days with the potential opportunity for RAF personnel to have a pre match pitch presence and a crowd collection on behalf of RAF Benevolent Fund.

Squadron Leader Mat Best, said: “The opportunity to link up with Glamorgan Cricket was too good to pass up. Like ourselves, the club has an illustrious history and promotes similar values to our own – teamwork, professionalism, fitness and pride in being Welsh.

“This is the first time that we have worked with a sports team in this way and we’re excited to see what will unfold. We wish Glamorgan luck for the season ahead and will look forward to cheering them on at the SWALEC Stadium.”

Hugh Morris, Glamorgan Chief Executive and Director of Cricket, said: “We are very proud to associate ourselves with the 614 Squadron. The work that they do with Reservists and in promoting the RAF is truly inspiring.”

Huw Mitchell, Sponsorship Manager, said: “We are delighted to welcome 614 Squadron as part of Team Glamorgan for the 2014 season.  Glamorgan’s positive start to the season, coupled with the announcement that we will host the first Ashes Test next year, has prompted a flurry of interest from corporate partners who recognise the home of Welsh Cricket as a unique sponsorship opportunity.”

614 (County of Glamorgan) Royal Auxiliary Air Force Squadron is based in Cardiff and aims to provide people in Wales the opportunity to part of the future of the RAF Reserves.
