LSH secures biggest West End letting of 2014

The Office Group Ltd has signed a 20-year sublease for 70,000 sq ft of office space at Henry Wood House – the BBC’s former office at 3-7 Langham Place, W1 – marking one of the largest completed office lettings in the West End so far in 2014.

Commercial property consultancy, Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) acted on behalf of the BBC to agree the lease . It has been the property advisor to the broadcaster for 20 years.

The building had been part of the BBC’s property portfolio since the 1960s but the BBC vacated the premises as part of the review and ongoing reduction of its UK portfolio.

This is the latest lease by The Office Group, which has been expanding its operations in London. The serviced office provider will take nine floors at the 16-floor office block located just south of the BBC’s newly redeveloped Broadcasting House.

David Earle, Head of Central London Office Agency at LSH, said: “The Office Group’s sublease at Henry Wood House represents the largest office letting in W1 so far in 2014. The Office Group will now adapt and brand the offices in its own unique style.

“Q1 2014 has seen strong rental growth in Central London offices and particularly in the West End, fuelled by the strong growth in business confidence and a drop in supply.”
