Association of Women in Property announces new South Wales Chairman for 2014/15

The South Wales branch of Women in Property (WiP) has announced its new branch Chairman. Helen James of JLL takes up the role from 1st March for one year.

Helen who has been a member of WiP South Wales for four years and was previously a member of WiP South West branch, is Associate Director in Valuation Advisory at the JLL Cardiff office. Helen qualified in 1990 and has over 23 years post qualification experience, primarily in South Wales but also in the South West. Helen has valuation experience in both the public and private sector having worked for the former Welsh Development Agency for 11 years. During her time with JLL she has been involved with valuations of commercial sites and premises for various purposes including loan security, asset valuation, grant appraisal and portfolio work.

She said, “Women in Property is a networking and professional development organisation, now in its 27th year supporting women working in the property and construction disciplines. This starts with school visits when our members encourage girls to consider a career in the industry, includes our links with Universities and our highly acclaimed National Student Award programme and continues to work for women at every level in their working life.

“Members have the benefit of professional and social networking events, WiP’s successful mentoring programme, nominations for awards and, as they become more senior, guidance in securing boardroom roles.”
