Commercial property consultancy hits top ten on business park

A commercial property consultancy covering the south central region has sold 10 units on a major business park.

Myddelton & Major acted as the agent in a series of separate deals on the region’s premier business park, Commerce Park at Frome in Somerset.

The sales to investors and owner-occupiers came on the back of a strengthening economy and property market in 2013, which looks set to continue into 2014.

The modern units – a mixture of industrial/warehouse premises – cover a total of more than 13,000 sq ft (1,207 sq m) on the popular estate.

Philip Holford, who is a partner at Salisbury-based Myddelton & Major, said: “This series of deals is more evidence that the economy is on the up.

“Owner-occupiers who have bought their own units now have the security to grow and prosper, while the number of units bought as investments shows that confidence is returning to the market.

“It is fantastic for Frome and will contribute to the continued vibrancy of Commerce Park and the health of the local economy.

“Units of this kind are become increasingly in demand again as the economy picks up going into 2014 with national economic growth estimated at 2.4 per cent for the coming year.”

He added: “Myddelton & Major put a great amount of time and effort into every transaction so we are delighted to see such successes at Commerce Park.

“We look forward to similar success in 2014 as the trusted advisor for people with commercial property needs in the Wiltshire, Somerset, Hants and Dorset area.

“We are keen to talk to any businesses seeking new or additional space in these locations.”

The units were sold freehold with three going to owner-occupiers and seven as investments with tenants continuing in the premises.

Myddelton & Major acted on behalf of the vendor in the sales.

Asking prices ranged from £95,000 to £410,000 for units.

Commerce Park is on the Frome by-pass, just two miles south of the A36 and A361 junction, and has more than 50 business units.

It is midway between the M4, M5 and A303 corridors – just 14 miles south of Bath and 13 miles from the A303.

The sales came in 2013 as Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire for the second year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online ‘bible’ of the UK commercial property industry.
