WLT Surveyors gear up for Black Country Charity Challenge

Wiggins Lockett Thompson look to start 2014 with a community fundraising fitness event.

With a mind to removing excess mince pies, staff at Chartered Surveyors Wiggins Lockett Thompson are saddling up for a charity bike tour of as many miles of canals in the Black Country in one day in the New Year. The firm, who have just expanded into the area following a merger, are raising funds for the charity Wooden Spoon.

Organiser and director at the firm Anthony Wiggins, who has been involved in fundraising for the Wooden Spoon via his local Rugby club where he has been a keen volunteer for the last 10 years, is already in training for the challenge starting with the Telford Parkrun on New Years day,

“Wooden Spoon is a charity that has been making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people for many years. Supported by their volunteer committees and their great fundraising ideas, they make sure that all the money raised stays in the local community to fund local projects. I am a firm believer in the benefits that an active lifestyle can have for youngsters and Wooden Spoon is one of the largest funders of respite and medical treatment centres, sensory enhancement therapeutic facilities, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas, and community-based programmes in the UK. Any funds we can raise and interest in the fantastic charity we can raise will be well used.”

The staff who are taking to the tow paths on the 1st February 2014 starting at the Stourton Junction and then heading east.
