Leading UK provider of civil engineering, building, mechanical and electrical services to public and private organisations, North Midland Construction PLC (NMC), has secured a £500k contract to deliver public realm improvements on the £1 billion Longbridge development in Birmingham.

The regeneration of Longbridge covers 468 acres. It aspires to create 10,000 jobs through a diverse range of industries, together with 2,000 new homes, a new town centre, parks and public open spaces.

Birmingham City Council has appointed NMC to deliver a range of public realm improvements on the development including; improving access to Longbridge railway station, highway improvements, installation of high quality paving and street furniture, soft landscaping and tree planting.

Geoff Poyzer, Managing Director of NMC’s Highways & Utilities division said; “Longbridge is a very exciting regeneration project to be involved in and we have extensive experience in delivering public realm works on projects like this. The creation of attractive external spaces is a significant part of this development and we’re delighted to be adding this project to our growing portfolio.”

NMC started work this month and is due to complete in December.
