Chantrey Vellacott DF strengthens partner team in the south

An experienced corporate recovery and insolvency specialist from Hampshire has joined leading chartered accountants Chantrey Vellacott DFK to strengthen its team in the south.

Matthew Fox has been appointed a partner in the Business Recovery Division of the top 25 accountancy firm.

He will operate out of Chantrey Vellacott DFK’s Southampton office on Brunswick Place.

Matthew, who lives in Fareham, has strong experience of the property and construction sectors and working closely with banks to help restructure underperforming businesses or those in distress.

Matthew will be responsible for growing and leading the Southampton practice and a national lead role for banking relationships.

He joins Chantrey Vellacott DFK following ten years with BDO in the south where he was latterly a director of business restructuring and insolvency.

Matthew previously spent four years with Tenon Recovery in Southampton, preceded by nine years at Ernst & Young.

He said: “I’m delighted to have joined the partner team at Chantrey Vellacott DFK and I look forward to playing a major role in enhancing the firm’s support to distressed and underperforming organisations across the South region.

“Throughout my career I have been involved with a variety of business restructuring and trading appointments in the UK and internationally, across industries including manufacturing, clothing, food, hospitality and leisure, retail, marine, financial services and care homes.

“In recent years I’ve also worked on secondments with HSBC, RBS and Barclays Bank to assist business owners and company directors with their underperforming businesses with a view to achieving a turnaround or restructure.”

Matthew, who is a Southern region committee member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) and a fellow of the Insolvency Practitioners Association, is married with three children and is a co-founder of the networking golf society, Hampshire Hackers.

Richard Toone, partner and head of Chantrey Vellacott DFK’s Business Recovery Division, added: “Matthew has an extremely strong background in corporate recovery, insolvency, and the south business region and we’re pleased to welcome him to the firm.

“His experience and knowledge will enhance our support to organisations in the region and continue to grow our presence in providing practical solutions to underperforming businesses.”
