Browne Jacobson retains 100% of its newly qualified trainees

Browne Jacobson has announced that all seven of its trainees qualifying this year will remain with the firm – the second year in succession that the firm has achieved a 100% retention rate.

The seven newly qualified lawyers who joined the firm in 2011 will be split between the firm’s Birmingham and Nottingham offices joining the firm’s health, property and commercial teams.

They include Emma Reid, Claire Burton, Lauren Dobbs, Jonathan Borer, Emily Daniell, Lauren Millward and Louise Taylor.

The firm receives over 800 applications for its training contracts each year with successful candidates spending four periods of six months each in some of the principle areas of the firm.

The news follows a successful eighteen months for the firm in which it posted a record turnover of £45m, expanded its national footprint with two new offices in Manchester and Exeter and managed a positive recruitment drive which saw overall numbers rise by 113 bringing the total firmwide headcount to over 700.

Eileen Henry, HR Director said:

“We were delighted that we could create so many new positions across the firm that all our September qualifying trainees were able to achieve the roles they wanted; that all seven will be pursuing the next stage of their career with us is great news for the firm.”

Sophie Potter, HR Manager, added:

“We have an impressive track record for attracting outstanding people and those qualifying this year are no exception. As a Best Companies investor in people we are always keen to develop alternative routes for new entrants into the profession. The success of our pupillage, CILEX and apprenticeship schemes are further examples of our commitment to developing the lawyers of the future and so ensuring reliable business continuity for our clients.”
