Going for gold at jeweller’s re-launch

Paralympic gold-medallist, Aled Davies MBE, has helped celebrate the re-launch of a Cardiff jewellers at a special gold-themed VIP event.

London 2012 Paralympic Games’ discus champion Aled Davies MBE joined in the celebrations at diamond specialist Clive Ranger’s launch party in Castle Arcade.

Aled Davies, said: “I’m delighted to be invited as a guest of honour at Clive Ranger’s gold-themed party. It is fantastic that such a reputable and well-known jewellers has been saved from closure. The re-launch was a great event and I wish Carl and his team every success going forward.”

During the evening, guests were treated to fizz and gold cupcakes and had the opportunity to win one of 12 jewellery prizes, which included Clogau gold keyrings, a pearl necklace and a blue topaz pendant.

The top prize on the evening – a princess cut diamond ring worth £3,000 – was won by Jenny Wyatt from Barry, who was presented the valuable prize by Aled and the store’s owner Carl Parry.

Jenny Wyatt said: “I’m been a customer of Clive Ranger’s since 1989. My husband and I always buy our diamonds from Clive Ranger as the quality and price are excellent. I’ve won prizes in the past but never anything as big as this so I’m ecstatic to have won this beautiful diamond ring. My husband and I were extremely sad when we heard that Clive Ranger was closing. However, when Carl informed us that he was taking over the store we were over the moon. We look forward to continuing to support the store and wish the staff the best of luck.”

Clive Ranger was recently acquired out of administration by former store manager, Carl Parry. Carl was previously with the company for 18 years and, with his investment, has been able to save six jobs at the store.

Carl Parry said: “Clive Ranger is an established brand in the Cardiff marketplace with a reputation for providing high quality diamonds with the back-up of great customer service. I was keen to preserve this, which is why I stepped in to take over the store.

“I’m thrilled that so many customers – old and new – have supported us by attending our re-launch and I’m thankful to Aled for being our guest of honour. It was a great way to celebrate a new era for the store and I’m looking forward to a long and successful future in Cardiff.”

Under the new ownership, the store will be introducing a number of new suppliers and ranges over the course of the next six months. It is also investing heavily in its IT to improve the customer experience.
