Pedal power helps lawyers raise over £3000 for local cancer charity

Trainee lawyers at Browne Jacobson raised over £3300 for a local cancer charity by pedalling over 500 miles across the country.

The fifteen trainee lawyers cycled between the firm’s five offices taking in Birmingham, Exeter, London, Manchester and Nottingham.

Hayward House is a specialist palliative care unit which treats patients with advanced cancer and motor neurone disease and is located in the grounds of the City Campus of Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust.

The gruelling challenge started on Monday 10 June when the trainees started the first leg of their ‘Tour of Britain’ by cycling from Manchester to Nottingham, a total of over 70 miles. This was followed by Birmingham, London and finally the 200 mile trip to Exeter – the longest leg of the challenge. The trainees arrived in Exeter on Sunday afternoon.

Trainee Will Thomas, one of the organisers of the challenge, said:

“It has been an amazing team effort. Our target was to raise at least £2500 for Hayward House so we are absolutely delighted to have exceeded it. Our colleagues at Browne Jacobson, family and friends have dug deep to support our efforts and we can’t thank them enough. We kept one eye on the total as we made our way round Britain and it really spurred us on as we approached and finally exceeded the £2500 mark.”
