Green light awarded for final phase of Quedgeley West Business Park

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has gained planning consent from Stroud District Council for the next phase of development at its £42 million Quedgeley West Business Park scheme, located near Junction 12 of the M5 in Gloucestershire.

The successful application, covering part of the final phase of the development at the 32 acre industrial and distribution site, will result in global manufacturer, Lister Petter, locating to a new purpose-built facility at the business park from spring 2014. The company is currently based at the £150m Littlecombe scheme in Dursley, Gloucestershire which is being developed by landowner Stroud District Council in partnership with St. Modwen. Littlecombe is a 92 acre regeneration project for new homes, businesses and community space built on brownfield land.

The approved proposals also include an additional 32,000 sq ft building, capable of sub-division into two units. To date, more than 320,000 sq ft of industrial and distribution space has been leased or sold at the Quedgeley West Business Park to occupiers including Schlumberger, CM Downton and City Link. The remaining eight acres will provide accommodation from 10,000 sq ft to 45,000 sq ft to meet occupier requirements and to purchase or rent.

Pete Davies, Development Manager for St. Modwen in the South West, commented: “Permission to progress the final phase of development and securing Lister Petter at Quedgeley West is a major step forward for this strategically located Business Park.

“We are in a position to deliver a completed building for occupiers in 2014 and Lister Petter’s relocation from our Littlecombe scheme facilitates further development at this mixed use regeneration site.”
Councillor Geoff Wheeler, leader of Stroud District Council, commented: “Whilst moving from Littlecombe to Hardwicke will mean upheaval, the approval of this application is a big step forward which will allow us to keep Lister Petter in the district, retaining 200 skilled jobs. Over the next two years, as part of our support for the local economy, we have put aside £1.25 million to support businesses, create jobs and promote growth and it is great to see this investment working.”

Quedgeley West Business Park is one of four sites being developed by St. Modwen in Gloucestershire. The company is also developing Quedgeley East Business Park, adjacent to Junction 12, Gateway 12 at Waterwells Business Park and the £150 million Littlecombe scheme in Dursley.

Quedgeley West Business Park agents are Alder King and Ash and Co.
