Leading design practice BDP selects Global Holdings Management Group’s Barge Crescent for new London Studio

Global Holdings Management Group, the international real estate and development company, has announced that global, multidisciplinary design consultancy, BDP, has agreed a lease over the whole of Barge Crescent on London’s South Bank.

The letting for 35,756 sq ft of office space follows Global Holdings Management Group’s comprehensive redevelopment of the 1990s three-storey office building into a workplace fit for modern occupiers.

Barge Crescent was redeveloped by retaining and reusing all of the 1990s substructure to reduce embodied carbon. The new design optimises natural daylight and ventilation incorporating a hybrid strategy to reduce energy in use, meanwhile terraces on every floor promote a healthier, more natural, working environment.

Built to high sustainability standards, the all-electric Barge Crescent boasts EPC A, BREEAM Excellent and Wired Score Credentials. The building incorporates intelligent mixed mode ventilation and lighting controls showcasing its modern credentials. Meanwhile, an enticing feature staircase, cycle storage and shower facilities, support wellbeing requirements.

Located within a vibrant and culturally rich destination that captivates visitors and locals, Barge Crescent sits within Global Holdings Management Group’s South Bank business community which also includes 22 Upper Ground and the Sea Containers building.

Josh Lawrence, Chief Executive of Global Holdings Management Group UK, said: “We have worked hard to ensure Barge Crescent provides best-in-class workspace designed with employee wellbeing in mind, so we are delighted that BDP has selected the building for its flagship London studio.

“London’s South Bank continues to grow as a dynamic hub for businesses and BDP becomes the latest international occupier to join our business community. Through the creation of premium office space like Barge Crescent in a highly connected, sought-after location we are creating environments where companies can thrive and attract the best talent.”

Simon Riley, BDP London Studio Chair, said: “Moving our London studio to Barge Crescent is about putting our people and our values as a progressive design practice first. The South Bank has a real strength as a business community – it’s open, creative, and well connected – and that matters to us. The building itself reflects the way we think about design: low carbon, lower energy, plenty of daylight, fresh air and spaces that support our studio culture and enable our people to excel. It’s not going to be easy to say goodbye to Clerkenwell, which has been a great home for BDP, but this move gives us a workplace that genuinely matches our ethos and sets us up well for the years ahead.”

USP is the retained leasing agent for Barge Crescent. BDP was advised by BNP Paribas Real Estate.
