Arthur Street is king in old Redditch town

The Old Town part of Redditch continues to prove a magnet for companies wanting a prominent site in the locality, according to property agents John Truslove.

Ian Parker, partner, said strong, existing businesses and the area’s more established nature were the pull.

And, in particular, Arthur Street is on something of a roll.

John Truslove has put together a number of deals there recently and more are in the pipeline.

“In this area of Lakeside most properties were custom-built in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and there is an interesting variety of architectural styles, as opposed to the more ‘planned’ areas of the New Town,” said Mr Parker.

His comments follow the recent arrival of family-run business Pardys Dairies which has leased new premises at 86 Arthur Street, another John Truslove transaction.

Last year saw family run businesses Accel (UK) purchase 72 Arthur Street and Samuel Taylor Ltd acquire 82 Arthur Street, with both deals being agreed by John Truslove.

Mr Parker said that, in addition, the second half of 2012 has seen a flurry of activity at Kingfisher Business Park, Arthur Street with Unit 12, which is 6,000sqft, having recently been let at the full asking rent and deals for Unit’s 2 and 3 currently in solicitors hands.

He quipped: “We are claiming to be the Kings of Arthur Street – I will be charging my flagon with mead because this certainly deserves a round table celebration!

“But, more seriously, it is a respected location containing businesses of substance. It tends to attract family firms run by hard working owner managers. And it feeds off that reputation.

“Occupiers include local businesses such as Heartbeat, Hogan Brothers and Maxwell Jones as well national and international companies including Cemex, Eyre & Elliston and Protaform.

“It continues to thrive and long may it do so because it is a very important part of the Redditch economy.”

A particular plus is easy access to both Junctions 2 and 3 of the M42.
