Electric car brand plugs into Cribbs

Cribbs Mall has announced the arrival of electric car manufacturer Polestar who have agreed to lease a 2,495 sq ft unit on a 10-year lease.

Polestar’s new space at Cribbs Mall will be its first in the South West and its fifth in the UK, as it looks to continue its expansion and encourage more people to choose electric vehicles.

Polestar Cribbs, like previous openings at London’s Battersea Power Station and Manchester’s Trafford Centre, will continue to showcase how the brand is changing the face of the traditional automotive retail model. It will use the space to showcase its range of electric cars which includes the sports car/grand tourer Polestar 1, the compact executive car Polestar 2 and the recently launched mid-size luxury crossover SUV Polestar 3. The design-led electric cars harness refined performance and cutting-edge technology as Polestar aims to improve the society in which we live through accelerating the change to a fully electric, climate-neutral future.

Test drives can be conducted on-site, deliveries can be scheduled to home or office addresses and there is no stock held to try and persuade buyers away from their desired configuration. Those wishing to order or reserve a Polestar can complete the process through the Polestar App or website either in the comfort of their own home in their own time, or with the guidance of a Polestar Specialist in their chosen Space.

Cribbs Mall has also been playing its part in helping to encourage the shift towards electric vehicles working with South Gloucestershire Council to install 26 charging points across the centre. Cribbs Mall is committed to supporting the growth of sustainable travel across Bristol and the South West with these charging points being just the start of its larger EV charging points roll-out.

The news of Polestar’s arrival comes after Cribbs Mall recently welcomed five new retailers following the signings of toy store The Entertainer, global fashion brand Mango, arts, and crafts supplier The Works, fast growing retailer Suit Direct, and luxury beauty specialist Rituals.

Scott Linard, Portfolio Director at M&G Real Estate, said: “It is fantastic news that Polestar has selected Cribbs Mall as its first showroom in the South West. Now more than ever it is important to encourage sustainable travel and Polestar’s new showroom will help to showcase the role electric vehicles can play in helping to reduce the UK’s carbon emissions. The arrival of Polestar also coincides with our wider commitment to work with South Gloucestershire Council to install more electric vehicle charging points across Cribbs Causeway to help make electric transport more accessible for all.”

Jonathan Goodman, Head of Polestar UK, said: “We continue to change the face of the traditional automotive retail model with our direct to consumer digital-first approach and our Bristol Space will feature the same state-of-the-art minimalist design and allow our customers, not us, to define and shape the experience they have with Polestar. With no sales pressure, an intimate environment and cutting-edge technology we continue to put the fun back into buying a car.”

“As a city committed to a sustainable future, choosing Bristol as the destination for our next Polestar Space was a no-brainer. The Space in Cribbs Mall is located in a pivotal retail destination in the South West making it easier than ever for customers to interact with the brand.”

Cribbs Mall is at the heart of Cribbs Causeway community and home to more than 150 shops and restaurants. Employing over 6,000 people from within a 20-mile radius, The Mall also serves both local and national businesses by providing a major regional hub for UK and international retailers.

Time Retail Partners and Cushman & Wakefield are Cribbs Mall’s retained letting agents.
