Franchise expertise appointment

A legal specialist in franchise agreements and other commercial contracts has joined an expanding firm in Hampshire.

Kate Bradbury will be providing consultancy services on behalf of commercial law expert Graeme Quar & Co, which has offices in Fareham and Petersfield.

She is the latest signing at the firm, following the recent appointments of Michael Dalton, a senior commercial property and business solicitor, and corporate law consultant Lorna Palmer.

Kate’s arrival brings her professionally full circle with managing director Graeme Quar – she worked as an articled clerk to him 25 years ago when he was a junior solicitor at a firm in Fareham.

Kate was previously a partner at Warner Goodman’s commercial department in Southampton, with long spells with other regional law firms such as Bruttons, Parker Bullen and Bell Pope.

Kate has advised on numerous British high street franchise agreements, including brand-name hair salons, opticians and fast-food outlets.

The franchise UK market is reportedly worth £13.4 billion, with 1,000 different brands and an estimated 40,000 business units.

Graeme said: ‘Kate has a market-leading reputation in her field – she will be utilising her considerable skills in the thriving franchise sector, as well as on other commercial contracts and agreements.’

Kate, from Fareham, said: ‘It’s great to be working again with Graeme and his team after 25 years – I’ve been reading how his firm, as a trusted adviser, continues to grow through client referrals, delivering results for them time and time again.’

The 13-strong firm, established 19 years ago, advises companies, small-to-medium enterprises, partnerships and sole traders.

Graeme Quar & Co experienced record growth last year, with a 37% rise in turnover.

As previously reported by Commercial News Media, the firm was recently selected by TEAM, Britain’s largest network of independent recruitment agencies, as its preferred adviser for its south region.

Late last year Graeme Quar & Co advised on the £6m sale of one of London’s most iconic shops from the late 1960s – the Beatles’ Apple Boutique in Baker Street.
