One of the world’s largest independent engineering consultancies has strengthened its operations in the West Midlands with the appointment of a new regional director.

Multidisciplinary consultancy, Meinhardt has announced that Nathaniel Gregory will lead the growth and development of its regional office at Two Snowhill in Birmingham city centre.

As part of its continued investment in the region, the firm has also revealed plans to make Birmingham its UK hub for the delivery of integrated design management services, which will support 50 Meinhardt offices worldwide.

Nathaniel Gregory is a chartered civil engineer, who has transitioned into the role of leading Meinhardt’s engineering design and project management services in the UK. He has almost a decade of expertise in leading the delivery of large-scale multidisciplinary projects and complex master planning schemes, both in the UK and internationally.

Recent experience includes multi-use developments, high rise residential towers, hotels, schools and student accommodation on behalf of Neat Developments, Keystone, Qualis and London Borough of Haringey, as well as significant clients across the Middle East.

He is tasked with furthering the development of Meinhardt’s multi-disciplinary engineering presence in the Midlands, where the company has secured a growing workload since its Birmingham office launched in 2019.

Meinhardt has delivered civil and structural design consultancy services at the 14-storey Timber Yard residential development in Birmingham’s Southside district, and MEP services at the £165 million Soho Wharf scheme, both on behalf of The Galliard Apsley Partnership. It was also appointed by Midgard to deliver facade access consultancy services as part of the development of the world’s first octagon-shaped residential tower at the Paradise scheme in Birmingham city centre, having previously completed a full multi-disciplinary review of the scheme on behalf of the funder during its recent purchase.

Nathaniel Gregory said: “I’m incredibly excited to be spearheading Meinhardt’s continuing investment into the West Midlands and to be leading its Birmingham office. There is a real hunger to continue to grow a sustainable and thriving team and to continue to provide excellent consultancy services to our clients in the region.

“The broad range of engineering design services delivered by Meinhardt in the UK and internationally, demonstrates technical expertise that is aligned to the needs of the West Midlands market. Not only will we continue to build the engineering design services in the West Midlands region, but I am thrilled to announce the relocation of the Meinhardt UK international design and project management team to the Birmingham Office.”

David Sharp, managing director Meinhardt (UK), said: “We are very pleased to have appointed Nathaniel as our new regional director in the Midlands. He is a proven leader with a track record of delivering complex projects both in the UK and internationally. He brings with him a hugely talented team of design specialists that will enhance the reputation of our Birmingham-based business, facilitating its future growth and supporting our delivery of design services worldwide.
