High-profile hires for Yorkshire-based property group following record year

Leading property consultancy Barnsdales has hired a series of high-profile roles as the UK property market continues to experience a post-pandemic boom.

Professional body RICS reports that demand for commercial property is at its highest since 2015 while official figures show house prices across the UK have risen 10.9% in the last year.

The last financial year saw Doncaster-based Barnsdales Group record its biggest turnover since the company was founded in 1905, with valuations and panel appointments seeing the biggest increases in demand. As a group, Barnsdales offers a range of residential and commercial services including property management, lettings and building surveys, operating nationwide.

Helping property owners during a bustling but uncertain market, the group has announced three senior hires across its Barnsdales and Barnsdales FM firms.

Managing director of Barnsdales Group, Jason Barnsdale, said: “With the UK property market going from strength to strength, now more than ever the region needs the expertise and experience of seasoned industry professionals. That’s why I’m delighted to welcome Andrew, James and Gareth to our growing team, helping us to provide even greater support to our portfolio of clients across the country.”

Andrew Turner, who joins Barnsdales as associate director of commercial property management, is a chartered surveyor and an experienced management surveyor. His previous experience in the industry includes directorship of Bayford & Co and managing director of Deacons Chartered Surveyors. Andrew now works closely with the Barnsdales FM team and helps lead the commercial property management department.

Joining Andrew is James Humphreys, who takes on the role of surveyor. With twelve years of experience in surveying for regional firms such as the NPS Property Group, Garness Jones Ltd and The Ashcourt Group, he will oversee the commercial agency department in South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, working closely with James Vandenbrook in the property auctions department and Jason Barnsdale on investment transactions.

Taking on the role of director at Barnsdales FM, which specialises in property and facilities management, is Gareth Farmer.

Based in Doncaster and operating across the UK, the company was formerly known as CPS, before becoming part of the Barnsdales Group in 2015 to offer a complete property management solution.

Gareth has worked in the property and facilities management sector for eleven years, having previously gained invaluable experience at Interserve, Engie, and the B38 Group. Based at the firm’s Doncaster office, he is certified by the British Institution of Facilities Management (BIFM), the professional body for facilities management, and is optimally positioned to leverage his extensive experience in the property market around South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.

Barnsdales Group employs a team of more than 60 property professionals and has offices in Doncaster, Sheffield, Manchester, Lincoln, London and Cirencester. As well as Barnsdales Chartered Surveyors and property consultants, the Barnsdales Group includes facilities management firm Barnsdales FM and Regional Property Auctioneers. Barnsdales Group is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA).
