Solicitors help raised over £2,000 for Will Aid

South Wales solicitors, HardingEvans, raised more than £2,000 for charities by waiving fees for Will writing during Will Aid towards the end of 2012.

Will Aid is a special partnership between the legal profession and nine UK charities. Each year, thousands of people use the Will Aid scheme, in which they make a donation to charity rather than paying their solicitor to draft their Will.

Paul Lindsey, Associate Solicitor at HardingEvans whose team promoted and participated in the scheme on the firm’s behalf, said: “By participating in Will Aid people not only gain the peace of mind of knowing their Will is taken care of, they also help fund life-changing charity work.”

Rebecca Purchase, a member of the probate team, said: “Will Aid is something that I was really pleased to be involved in. The extra hard work and commitment needed to keep pace with the increased demand was very rewarding.”

Will Aid takes place every November and among the charities that benefit from the scheme are Action Aid, Age UK, NSPCC, British Red Cross and Save the Children. As well as allowing participants the opportunity to change people’s lives in the UK and around the world, it also offers advice as to how they can leave a lasting legacy in their Will.

Joy Phillips, Practice Director at HardingEvans, added: “To have raised over £2,000 for these important charities is a great achievement. As a law firm we are consistently trying to do whatever we can for charity and this is a way of using our specialist knowledge to the best effect.”

Since 1988, Will Aid has raised more than £11 million to help transform people’s lives in the UK and around the world.

HardingEvans is one of south Wales’ most progressive law firms, offering a full range of legal services to businesses and individuals.
