Jaynic has secured planning consent at Suffolk Park, Bury St Edmunds, for a new warehouse to be occupied by parcel carrier Hermes Parcelnet Ltd, together with consent for a speculative 160,000 sq ft warehouse to cater for the strong occupier demand in the region. These units form part of phase three of the 2.3m sq ft Suffolk Park development.
Contractor Parkway has won the contract to build the first two units with construction due to start imminently for completion in August 2022.
Ben Oughton, development director of Jaynic, says: “We pre-let the 76,000 sq ft unit to Hermes earlier in the year. This shows the strong and sustained demand at Suffolk Park over the last couple of years for a range of sizes,” adds Oughton.

Companies taking space at Suffolk Park to date include Weerts Group (Skechers), MH Star UK Ltd, Unipart Logistics, Treatt, Sealey and The East of England Ambulance Trust accounting for approaching 1.75m sq ft of space.
Suffolk Park offers prospective occupiers bespoke buildings on a design & build basis alongside a rolling programme of speculative development.
It is located within one hour of the Port of Felixstowe, the UK’s largest container port dealing with 42% of Britain’s containerised trade. In 2015 it was ranked as the 37th busiest container port in the world and Europe’s 6th busiest.
Bury St Edmunds is located on the strategically important A14 corridor, linking Felixstowe to the Midlands and London via the M11.
