Turnover boost as Hampshire property firm defies market trend

An innovative Hampshire firm of chartered surveyors has bucked the perception of a stagnant property market to record a 15% increase in annual turnover.

Year-end results from Southampton-based Primmer Olds follow a period of growth and the launch of an online office space calculator for business owners seeking new premises.

The independent partnership is the only commercial agency in the South to offer the popular web-based solution. Its interface works on desk size and staff numbers instead of square footage and it supplies details of matching properties to the enquirer within a working day.

Among recent client wins, Primmer Olds has been appointed managing agent for the Boyatt Wood shopping centre in Eastleigh and two commercial developments in Romsey – Belbins Business Park and Ashfield Farm Offices.

The firm, which was founded in 1987 against a background of corporate buyouts of estate agencies, has also sold a multi-let investment involving four shops at Lymington’s Angel Courtyard.

Partner Robert Primmer put the successful year down to service quality and long-term strategy. He said: “Our 15% increase in turnover has come about by focusing on excellent customer service and demonstrating our credibility in what has been a very challenging property market. In particular, more and more clients are looking to us to help them outsource the complex management of multi-let properties and make the best of their assets.”

Primmer Olds has engaged Southampton business consultancy MHL to drive forward its business strategy for the longer term and achieve continued growth.

MHL Managing Director Sue Warden-Owen said: “Primmer Olds has marketed itself strongly during tough times while achieving first-class credibility in the commercial property sector. I’m working with them as they continue to reach out to property investors and landlords seeking moves and expansion across Hampshire and the South.”

MHL works with managing directors, owner business managers and CEOs who want impartial advice on aspects of business management. As well as a City background focusing mainly on mergers and acquisition, Mrs Warden-Owen has industry experience of running multi-million pound marketing budgets and providing PR services to blue-chip clients.
