Cardiff Business School receives AACSB accreditation

Cardiff University has become the first business school in Wales to be awarded accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, AACSB, for the activities of Cardiff Business School.

AACSB accreditation is widely recognised as a hallmark of business school excellence. Less than five per cent of the world’s business schools are accredited. The School is the sixth Russell Group institution to gain accreditation.

AACSB Accreditation Standards are used as the basis to evaluate a business school’s mission, operations, faculty qualifications and contributions, programs, and other critical areas. AACSB accreditation ensures students and parents that the business school is providing a top-quality education. It also ensures employers that AACSB-accredited business school graduates are ready to perform on day one.

Professor Martin Kitchener, Dean of Cardiff Business School, said: “We are thrilled to have achieved AACSB accreditation. It is testament to the hard work of our staff and students who constantly strive to achieve the highest standards possible. AACSB is considered to be the premier business accreditation recognised across the world and we are proud to be the first University in Wales to have achieved this.”

The news of the accreditation comes at the same time as Cardiff Business School celebrates its 25th anniversary. The school was opened in 1987 and has educated over 25,000 students from across the globe in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study.

John J. Fernandes, president and chief executive officer of AACSB International, said: “AACSB congratulates Cardiff University and Dean Martin Kitchener on earning accreditation, and we welcome them into the family of AACSB-accredited business schools.

“AACSB Accreditation represents the highest achievement for an educational institution that awards business degrees. Dean Kitchener and the faculty, directors, and staff of Cardiff University are to be commended for their role in earning accreditation.”
