Plans approved for next phase of £30m Nottingham development

Plans to create a new Local Centre and Aldi supermarket at a £30 million mixed-use development in Nottingham have been unanimously approved.

Gedling Borough Council gave the proposals at Teal Park off the Colwick Loop Road in Netherfield from Warwick-based property company AC Lloyd Commercial and Nottingham-based Henry Davidson Developments (HDD) the go ahead at its recent planning committee.

The Local Centre will include the Aldi food store as well as four retail units, a children’s day nursery and a public house.

AC Lloyd Commercial and HDD had already secured planning permission for a 53,000 sq ft trade park and a 28,860 sq ft industrial unit at Teal Park with Storage Giant, Tool Station, Screwfix and Howdens agreeing terms to open new units.

A purpose-built care home for people with residential and residential dementia care needs opened earlier this year as part of the phased opening at the development.

Mark Edwards, managing director of AC Lloyd Commercial, said it was great to receive unanimous support for this element of the scheme from Gedling Borough Council’s planning committee.

“The Local Centre will provide amenities for nearby residents as well as creating up to 125 FTE jobs which will be welcomed by local job-seekers as well as helping to drive forward the local economy,” he said.

“Construction of the trade park and industrial development is going well and now that we have planning permission for the Local Centre, we can continue with discussions to attract operators for the four separate retail units.”

Richard Croft, director at HDD, added: “Aldi stores are extremely popular and having this national food operator will be an excellent addition to the multi-purpose scheme which will serve the new housing development along with the wider community.”
