St James Quarter adds Tortilla and Black Sheep Coffee to tenant mix

St James Quarter, the 1.7 million sq ft city centre development in Edinburgh, has announced the signings of Tortilla and Black Sheep Coffee, adding three more international brand names to an already exciting and varied feast of food and beverage options set to open from 24th June 2021.

Following hot on the heels of the recent announcements of Salerno Pizza and Bross Bagels, plus Gary Maclean’s Creel Caught within Bonnie & Wild, the latest arrivals will help solidify St James Quarter’s position as a destination which combines a balanced mix of both internationally recognised and local artisanal brands.

Founded by St Andrews University alumni Eirik and Gabriel, this will be Black Sheep Coffee’s first outlet in Scotland occupying a 1,600 sq ft unit on St James Square. Meanwhile Tortilla has opted for a 1,500 sq ft space in the refuelling area “Leith St Eats” and will offer fresh Mexican burritos, tacos, and tequila-filled frozen margaritas.

Ed Corrigan at St James Quarter commented:

“Having recently announced the arrival of some exceptional Scottish names, we’re now adding the instantly recognisable brands of Tortilla and Black Sheep Coffee. Our aim has always been to blend together a diverse offering that includes internationally recognised brands, including some national and city ‘firsts’, alongside the best independent Scottish food operators to create a one-of-a-kind destination.”

Tortilla’s Managing Director Richard Morris said:

“We are thrilled to be opening our first Tortilla in Edinburgh. Our restaurant in St James Quarter will join our family of 43 locations across the UK, including our restaurant in Silverburn Shopping Centre, Glasgow. We’re sure the folk of Edinburgh will be big fans of our authentic California burritos and tacos and we can’t wait to get rolling!”

Black Sheep’s coffee co-founders Gabriel Shohet and Eirik Holth said:

“Our first shop in Scotland is long overdue and will be the first of many this year in Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. We have tons of customers up north who regularly order our beans online and who kept asking us to open closer to home, so it was just a matter of time until we found the right spot at St James Quarter.”

These latest signings at St James Quarter, set to open the first phase of its retail, dining and leisure elements later this year, underscores the Scottish capital’s global appeal and further bolsters the St James Quarter leisure offer. Following the signings of Bross Bagels, Salerno Pizza, Kurt Geiger, Peloton, Bonnie & Wild and SUSHISAMBA, new arrivals Tortilla and Black Sheep Coffee join the integrated line-up alongside further fashion brands including Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.

A game-changing mixed-use development being delivered by Nuveen Real Estate, St James Quarter completes the distinctive offer of Edinburgh with over 80 new brands, an enticing mix of restaurants and bars, a W Edinburgh hotel, a boutique Everyman Cinema, a Roomzzz Aparthotel, 152 New Eidyn residential apartments, and an unrivalled guest experience providing customers with an enviable events programme in a range of new and attractive public spaces.

Complementing an unrivalled shopping offer, which includes a host of brands including & Other Stories, Mango, Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius, Russell & Bromley, Miele, Next, H&M, JD Sports, John Lewis, and many more, St James Quarter will be a premier food and drink destination. Providing a truly diverse offer – from fast food, fresh food, to family and restaurant dining including Bonnie & Wild who will bring a new concept food hall to the development.
