In Support of Local Talent

One of Shropshire’s leading commercial property developers, Morris Property, is helping encourage local talent by linking up with college students with a design competition to create brand designs for a new commercial property site in Shrewsbury.

Graphic Communications students at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College have been given the chance to design a brand concept, including logo and rationale, for the as yet undeveloped Battlefield site, located north of Shrewsbury. The chosen winner will not only win a cash prize for technology equipment to support their studies, but will also have the chance of one on one work experience with a professional graphic designer at Seal, Morris’s leading marketing agency based in Birmingham.

Liz Lowe, Head of Estates at Morris Property, said: “As a business deeply rooted in Shropshire, we aspire to work with the local community wherever possible and this seemed the perfect opportunity to get Shrewsbury students involved in our company’s work. With so many talented young designers at the college, asking them to put their skills into practice seemed the ideal way to support and work with young talent.”

Following presentation of their design concepts to a panel of quantity surveyors, the winning concept will be announced at a ceremony attended by all finalists, their college course leader, Adam Constantine, and Morris Property.

Adam Constantine, Head of Art and Design, Shrewsbury Sixth Form College, said: “This is a unique opportunity for our students to gain professional experience and apply the skills they have been honing over the past year of their college course.

“I know all the students involved have put a lot of effort into creating outstanding design concepts, and it will certainly be difficult to choose a winner!”
