Black Country House Nearly Fully Let

Goold Estates have signed up Defence Security Systems as the latest tenant at their Black Country House development in Oldbury. Only 12 months after completion of the refurbishment this 35,000 sq ft office building is now nearly fully let with only 5,000 sq ft remaining.

Dominic Goold, Managing Director of Goold Estates commented: “I am delighted to welcome Defence Security Systems as our latest tenant. They join an impressive range of other tenants including Crowe Clark Whitehill, Cygnia Technologies and Prospect Services. We are just finishing the Cat A works to the ground floor where we have the final vacant space in the building.”

Peter Swain, Managing Director of Defence Security Systems, the UK’s leading independent provider of security systems, said: “Our business has grown into a highly successful national company, having been established over 28 years ago, with a client base that includes high street retailers and leisure outlets as well as hospitals and schools. We protect over 4,000 commercial systems and 5,000 home security systems.

Our move to 6,000 sq ft of high quality office accommodation is the latest phase of our expansion plans. We have an option on a further 1,000 sq ft in order to allow for further expansion. We wanted to stay in the Black Country area and have a quality working environment which we have achieved at Black Country House.”

Mike Price, Partner at Johnson Fellows, who acted on behalf of Defence Security Systems, commented: “My clients’ premises were beginning to hold back their business and consequently we needed to secure, on their behalf, the best available building in the area on competitive terms. Black Country House gives them the right mix of quality and affordability. The offices have been refurbished to a high standard and with the competitive terms that were on offer provided an ideal solution.”

Jamie Phillips of Knight Frank, the letting agents, added: “Black Country House has been a phenomenal success. At a time when most developers have kept a low profile Goold Estates have taken a positive and proactive approach by speculatively refurbishing this building.

The office market generally has seen a flurry of activity in recent months with the out of town market being the strongest. This remaining suite of 5,000 sq ft is located on the ground floor which gives potential occupiers superb signage opportunities as an added benefit along with the quality of accommodation and generous car parking that the building offers.”
