North Somerset business award win for a Plum team

North Somerset-based Plum Communications & PR celebrated a big award win this past Saturday night, after being named as a runner-up for the prestigious 2012 Siân Lloyd-Jones Business Award, in association with North Somerset Enterprise Agency.

The creative communications agency, based in Weston-super-Mare, was one of two-runners up for the annual award, presented at the North Somerset Business Club Charity Ball which returned to the Winter Gardens in the town for the 14th year on Saturday 13 October. The Ball was this year sponsored by Santander Business Banking and North Somerset Business Leader, and raised £3,500 from local business people through tickets for the dinner and dance and through a raffle.

The Siân Lloyd-Jones Business Awards are run annually by North Somerset Enterprise Agency and co-sponsored by the Economic Development Team at North Somerset Council, to recognise business talent in the local area. The awards are held in memory of the NSEA’s former colleague and friend, Siân Lloyd-Jones, who worked very hard to support local businesses in her role as Client Services Co-ordinator for the enterprise agency before a brain haemorrhage cut short her life at the age of just 32.

The award win was a huge achievement for the team at Plum Communications & PR. Despite only being in its third year of trading, the agency has grown to a dedicated five-strong team which offers a range of marketing and PR services to local businesses, including strategy, crisis communications planning, social media marketing and copywriting for print and web. Karen Morledge, founder and Director of Plum, accepted the award on the night:

“It’s a tremendous honour to be recognised by the NSEA and the business community here in North Somerset. We had a lot of help and support from the NSEA in the early days, and we’re delighted by how quickly the business has grown – and we are very proud to be a North Somerset business.

Congratulations to the other award runner up, Thermal Roofing, and the overall winner, Pure Comms. We were certainly in very good company on the night!”
