Head of Estates Projects (Client Side)

Beach Baker are thrilled to be working exclusively with a South West charity in the conservation and leisure sector to source a Project and Maintenance focused Head of Estates.

Based in Bristol, this is a rare client-side role where you will take the lead role in both delivering physical capital development projects and for the day to day estates provision covering maintenance management (including a small team), grounds and planning matters.

This fantastic opportunity is heavily project focused so it would suit someone familiar with project themed methodology as well as being a MRICS Building Surveyor or equivalent (qualified by similar experience) with a genuine interest in heritage buildings, conservation and sustainability. It will therefore require/involve:

• Project management experience of refurbishment and new development.
• Preparation of briefs for capital development projects in liaison with relevant managers and staff, ensuring best value from investment.
• Managing the procurement of appropriate consultants, design teams and contractors for capital projects.
• To oversee construction projects from concept to completion in accordance with best building and health and safety practices and with a strong appreciation of sustainability strategy.
• To organise capital project meetings and any other necessary meetings to ensure proper planning and communication of projects.
• Being the lead contact with local authorities on planning, travel plan related issues and other matters.
• Being the key driver in our client’s commitment to environmentally sustainable solutions for all project developments and maintenance work.
• Producing financial and statistical reports.
• Strong knowledge of building construction and maintenance issues, building regulations and relevant health and safety legislation affecting projects.
• CAD skills
• Budgetary and financial acumen.

The position will offer a competitive salary up to £55,000 and a good pension contribution. We will consider ambitious and capable candidates looking to step up, currently being paid less, whether in consultancy at Senior or Associate Director level or already working client side with similar project based experience looking for a different challenge.
