The latest line-up of businesses set to join CARGO 2, the second phase of Bristol’s first retail hub made of converted shipping containers has been announced.

With the fit-out of the CARGO 2 units about to start, Gopal’s Curry Shack, The Bristol Cheesemonger and a new venture from Brace & Browns have been confirmed as the latest retailers to join this next phase of CARGO, part of Wapping Wharf, the city’s vibrant new harbourside quarter.

Stuart Hatton, director at Umberslade, the developer behind CARGO, said: “It is great to have this trio of fantastic independent retailers join CARGO at Wapping Wharf. CARGO 2 is shaping up to have a brilliant mix of businesses on board, ranging from a yoga studio to a massage studio, from a jeweller’s to a juice bar, and including an amazing array of tasty food options that hail from around the world.”

Gopal’s Curry Shack serves vibrant and creative Indian inspired street food with a seasonal British twist.

“We are so excited to be joining a fabulous community of independent retailers at CARGO. The CARGO development is a perfect fit for us: independent businesses, community focused and forward thinking. Our vision is to bring colour, a little bit of spice and delicious vegetarian Indian street food to Wapping Wharf!”, said Melanie Taylor of Gopal’s Curry Shack.

The Bristol Cheesemonger is a small independent business specialising in local and UK territorial cheeses. Building a strong relationship with the dairy or farm, it goes straight to source collecting the best local and seasonal cheeses from within the West Country.

Rosie Morgan, owner of The Bristol Cheesemonger, said: “As the business owner, I am excited about the new opportunities moving to CARGO will bring my business, as well as being surrounded by such a variety of small independent retailers.”

Meanwhile, the new venture into CARGO 2 from Brace & Browns will be “the fancier, younger and sexier cousin of Brace & Browns”, bringing plush cocktails and a new sharing style of eating to the scene. Its name will be unveiled at a later date.

“Wapping Wharf is such a cool concept; it’s fast become a real hub of Bristol living. It embodies everything that makes this city so brilliant: innovative design, amazing food, a stunning location, great people and very good times. Being a part of Wapping Wharf was too big an opportunity to turn down. We can’t wait to open, join the neighbourhood and continue feeding, watering and entertaining the fine folk of Brizzle”, said David Brown, owner of Brace & Browns.

Here is the list of retailers joining CARGO 2 who have been previously announced:
