Scape boosts service in Northern Ireland with new regional business manager

Public sector built environment specialist Scape Group has boosted its provision for clients in Northern Ireland with the appointment of its first dedicated regional business manager for the area.

The appointment of highly experienced chartered building surveyor and project manager, Gavin Wallace, is part of Scape’s commitment to ensure local expertise is embedded into every project it delivers.

Scape has developed and managed construction industry frameworks for public sector clients throughout the UK for more than ten years, bringing together strong delivery teams and achieving measurable time, cost, quality and community benefits on every project.

Gavin will be based in Coleraine and will operate throughout Northern Ireland.  He has more than 18 years’ experience working for leading national and international commercial building consultancy practices in Dublin and Belfast.

He said: “Scape appealed to me because it is a public sector-owned commercial organisation with a strong commitment to delivering social and community benefits. Scape’s proven consultancy, construction and facilities management frameworks will play vitally important roles in supporting the public sector over the coming years and I’m excited to be part of that process.”

As regional business manager for Scape in Northern Ireland, Gavin’s role is to support clients at a strategic and operational level, providing guidance on procurement solutions through

Scape’s suite of frameworks. He will also maintain close contact with clients and framework partners throughout the delivery of their projects, helping them to ensure that the work runs smoothly and delivers consistent quality, value for money and social value.

Gavin added: “Scape has been extremely successful in all regions of the UK and with representation in Northern Ireland I hope to foster collaborative working relationships between

Scape, delivery partners and public sector clients.

“Scape has created highly efficient and measurable processes that help our clients to improve their built environment, secure value for money, stimulate local economic growth and deliver more for their communities. By facilitating strong client and delivery partner working relationships in the region, we hope to achieve better project and performance outcomes for all stakeholders.”

Scape frameworks are managed nationally, but delivered locally. Every framework partner has a strong regional focus, with over 80% of the supply chain for each project being procured locally through competitive tendering. This provides strong benefits to the local economy as well as assurance of best value.

Gavin has been accountable for managing a wide range of budgets in previous roles, ensuring that best value for money is obtained – so he is very well placed to lead Scape’s suite of frameworks in Northern Ireland. His appointment comes after similar resource increases from Scape in its services across the country, including in Scotland, where there has been a surge in demand for the Scape national frameworks, following the appointment of a regional business manager at the end of 2014.
