Business roundtable to show business benefits of good design

An upcoming roundtable event will show how West of England businesses can use good design to make their businesses become more competitive and profitable.

“Design for Growth” takes place on Wednesday 21st March, day three of a week long programme of events called Five Days of Design delivered by West of England Design Forum.

The Value of a Design Fact Finder Report stated that for every £100 a design-led business spends on design, turnover increases by £225, and this event will give businesses a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the benefits of a re-think.

Emma Collins, Chair of WEDF says:

“We know that design is a powerful business tool and have worked with many companies who have seen increased sales, improved staff moral and clearer communications as a result of using design effectively. We are delighted to be working with Business West and look forward to sharing our expert knowledge to enable local businesses to become more competitive”

One such business is Stroud based Kitchen Garden Foods. The company’s founder, Barbara Moinet says:

“After rebranding our sales turnover increased by 10%. We learned the importance of a ‘holistic’ approach to design and would highly recommend this to other companies.”

Businesses are invited to Leigh Court to learn about how branding gives a business more impact, what customers look for in websites, which print materials work best and how internal communications build team motivation.

It will be an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how design works, to clarify what type of design services would benefit their business most and to make contacts with local design professionals.

Five Days of Design strengthens connections between business, technology and design, driving economic growth by helping companies to use design to become more innovative and successful. Five Days of Design aims to help businesses understand design and the strategic business benefits, and help designers promote themselves and design effectively.
