Cushman & Wakefield advises on WhatCulture.com’s relocation to Baltic Place

WhatCulture.com, one of the UK’s top 100 most visited websites has chosen Gateshead’s iconic Baltic Place as its new home. Cushman and Wakefield acted on behalf of the landlord South Shore Developments to agree the deal.

The website, which has established itself as a “go to place for all things film, TV and gaming”, has taken 5,500 sq ft of office space within Baltic Place located on Gateshead’s Quay. The new headquarters will be specifically designed to meet the company’s growing requirements and will include features such as a video production room, staff break out area with games consoles and a pool table.

Launched in the summer of 2011, WhatCluture.com has grown rapidly and now serves more than 150 million page views per month.

Peter Willis, WhatCulture’s co-founder comments: “We very much see our roots remaining firmly in the North East, with our new premises now matching our ambitions for the company.”

Chris Dent, Cushman and Wakefield Office Agency team comments: “This letting marks a strong year for Baltic Place, which is now for the first time over 60 % let. We have seen an increase in demand for office space from new media companies and the space on offer at Baltic Place suits WhatCulture’s requirements for high quality, flexible accommodation.”
