Cardiff-based SCS Group builds strong foundations for future with building controls solution

Building services specialist SCS Group has announced a 20% increase in sales after developing and launching an innovative new approach to controlling building services.

The Cardiff-headquartered firm is on track to treble turnover within the next three years as a result of the success of its Total Building Automation solution, which integrates heating, cooling and fire protection in buildings to improve energy consumption and safety.

SCS Group – one of the UK’s leading providers of ventilation, building management and smoke control solutions – has recently secured contracts to install its systems into Vauxhall Sky Gardens, 1-2 Ludgate and a retail development on Oxford Street, London. They are also working on the Friar’s Walk development in Newport.

As a result of its growth over the past year, the firm has been able to create 13 new engineering roles, taking its staff count to 37. It now plans to create 25 additional roles and apprenticeships as it seeks to treble its £6M turnover.

The Minister for Economy, Science and Transport Edwina Hart visited SCS Group’s Capital Business Park HQ this week, where a state-of-the-art automated building is being developed to demonstrate its capabilities.

Commenting on her visit the Minister said:

“I was very impressed by what SCS has achieved and delighted to hear of their future growth plans to increase sales and create a substantial number of new jobs. SCS works in one of our priority economic sectors which has high growth potential and it’s very good news to hear its innovative products and services are bringing in new business. I wish the company every success in the future.”

Managing Director Allan Meek said:

“Our aim is to become the UK market leader in making buildings work more effectively through intelligent control of environment, security, IT, fire, communication and associated systems.

“Our Total Building Automation solution is proving highly attractive to clients seeking to make their buildings more intelligent in order to reap the cost savings and associated safety benefits. This has opened up new markets for us, allowing us to expand our operations and invest in creating high-quality career opportunities here in Wales.

“We are looking forward to demonstrating what a true building of the future can look and feel like at our own offices, which we plan to use as a showcase for prospective national and global clients.”
