Architects firm goes for growth after securing a host of new contracts across the UK

Architecture firm HLM is expanding its office space in Wales as it prepares to grow its workforce by 30% after securing several major contracts across the UK.

The firm’s Cardiff office has been appointed as the lead development partner to deliver building and landscape architecture and interior design for the new £400 million Enderby Wharf project in Greenwich.

The development will create 770 new riverside homes for the Royal Borough of Greenwich as well as provide education facility, BREEAM standard commercial facilities, a cruise line terminal and pier and a 251-bedroom hotel.

HLM in Cardiff has also been appointed to design the new Willowfield Humanities College, an £18 million secondary school project in Waltham Forest in London, which will accommodate 900 sixth form pupils.

The Cardiff office has already doubled in size in the past 12 months bringing the headcount to 20 members of staff; the two appointments will further boost numbers and enable HLM to continue to build on existing work as well as engage with new clients.

Jonathan Jones, associate director of HLM in Cardiff, said:
“Current economic conditions have generated an increase in developer activity and as a result we are enjoying a period of growth in our Cardiff office. Our expansion will serve to benefit our existing and new clients as we develop our expertise and deliver the quality that our clients have come to expect from the practice.”
