Spectrum lights way with latest letting

A global leader in prepaid product and transaction services is the second company to check in at a newly refurbished office on a thriving business park near Southampton.

InComm Europe has signed a five-year lease on 278 sq m (3,000 sq ft) on the ground floor of Spectrum at 1600 Parkway, Solent Business Park, Whiteley.

Regional commercial property consultancy Hughes Ellard acted for landlord Craigard in the deal. The quoting rent for the premises is £12.50 a sq ft.

Hughes Ellard is joint agent with Nexus for 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) Spectrum, which underwent a £800,000 refurbishment by Craigard after the freehold was purchased in 2012.

Works included the installation of highly energy-efficient M&E in order to further appeal to cost-conscious occupiers through reduced user and service costs.

Last summer Mitie, the FTSE 250 company which specialises in strategic outsourcing and energy services, signed up to 975 sq m (10,500 sq ft) on the ground floor.

InComm is an industry-leading marketer, distributor and technology innovator of stored-value gift and prepaid products, with 30 staff at Spectrum.

Shaun Phillips, InComm Europe’s finance and human resources director, said: “Spectrum provides us with a superb open-plan work environment and lower running costs and will serve us well as we
continue to expand our international business.”

According to industry figures, the global prepaid cards market is projected to reach £1.2 trillion by 2018 on the back of growing consumer demand.

Nik Cox, a director at Southampton-based Hughes Ellard, said: “We are confident that the other two remaining floors, both at 1,229 sq m (13,230 sq ft), will be signed up sooner rather than later due to
exceptionally strong interest. Solent Business Park is thriving.”

Paul Foster, Craigard’s managing partner, said: “The arrivals of InComm Europe and MITIE validate our decision to invest nearly £1m in breathing new life into this flexible and strategically located
headquarter building.

“Thanks to state-of-the-art M&E, which has substantially brought down running costs, Spectrum can offer among the lowest service charges on the park. This adds further letting appeal to what is already an impressive building.”

Lease details for InComm Europe were not disclosed.
