G24 Innovations cycles to victory

Wentloog based G24 Innovations (G24i), the global leader in the recycling of light to electricity, has proven their green credentials by winning the Cardiff Cycle Challenge, a three week challenge which aimed to get businesses in the city out of their cars and onto their bikes.

There were six categories in total and G24i were crowned winners of the 50-199 group with 55.6% of employees taking part. 121 trips were logged and over 1,701 miles were cycled.

Richard Costello, Chief Operating Officer of G24i said: “I am delighted with the number of employees who took part in the challenge and to win was an added bonus.

“We already have a number of keen cyclists who commute to work by bike, however it was refreshing to see seven new cyclists taking part and getting back on a bike for the first time in years.”

Employees from almost 70 organisations were challenged to ride a bike for at least 10 minutes over the three week competition.

G24i will revolutionise the way we create power in businesses and homes with energy efficient wireless indoor power applications that drastically reduce our carbon footprint.  Through the creation of intelligent photovoltaic (PV) technology, G24i partners with like-minded market leaders to create a wide range of self powering autonomous devices such as wireless keyboards, mice, remote controls, blinds and much more, which work in all light conditions including very low ambient light.

Supported by Cardiff Council, Environment Wales, Welsh Government, The Cyclists Touring Club and Public Health Wales, the Cardiff Cycle Challenge was created to encourage people to use their bike as an alternative form of transport to get around the city.
