Iconic 19th century Cardiff building The Maltings stages its first summer barbecue

The Maltings, which recently benefited from a £3m investment, staged a summer barbeque to which staff from all 62 offices in the historic complex were invited.

The 130 plus people who attended were treated to a five star David Lush Butcher’s, Penarth, hog roast and gateau feast including drinks, all at the iconic Cardiff building.

The gathering was such a success that it could now become an annual event.

The Maltings, a privately-owned Grade II listed Victorian Malt House, at East Tyndall Street, was recently highly commended at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Wales and South West Awards after its refurbishment.

The Maltings Managing Director Kathy Fox said: “We laid on the spread for everyone at The Maltings as an informal get together to allow people who work in the various offices here to mix and get to know each other better. It was such a huge success that we’re now planning on putting a barbeque on every summer.”

Established for thirty years as a centre for records management and storage with additional rented office space The Maltings provides some 17,000 sq ft of office space for a variety of professional firms and businesses.

The Maltings now has a fully equipped, on site modern gymnasium, a café/coffee shop and meeting rooms. It also has conference and video conferencing facilities along with ‘hot-desks’, fully fitted and equipped communal kitchen areas, male, female and disabled toilets, shower rooms and “break-out” seating areas.
