Asbestos removal specialists move to new base

A company which specialises in the removal of asbestos at domestic and commercial premises all over the UK has set up a new base in the Black Country.

Shifnal Environmental Safety Limited has relocated to the Dunstall Hill Estate, Wolverhampton, which is owned and managed by London and Cambridge Properties (LCP). It has taken a 4,431 sq ft unit to bring its operations office from Shifnal and its Wolverhampton-based works unit together under the same roof.

The location was chosen because of its central location and motorway access as the company operates a 24-hour call out service, responding to calls across the UK.

SES, which was set up in 1986, employs 22 people at Dunstall Hill. It is a market leader in the removal of asbestos and remedial works, including the management of hazardous waste.

Patrick Matchett, contracts director, said: “It made sense to have one base rather than two sites and we believe it will be more efficient. Our new premises also allow room for expansion. We wanted a central location with access to the motorway network so we can maintain our response times to clients.

“Most of our work is carried out in the public sector working with local authorities and large construction companies but we do work in the private sector too.

“It is specialist work; all our employees have been with us for a number of years and undergo extensive training because of the hazardous nature of the job.”

The company is a member of ARCA, the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association, and provides a range of services, from taking samples to ascertain asbestos content to removal and reinstatement.

The Dunstall Hill Estate is just one mile from Wolverhampton city centre with the M54 motorway two-and-a-half miles away, giving access to the M6 and wider national motorway network.

It has a range of industrial units available for rent from 4,989 sq ft to 60,718 sq ft.

LCP is one of the UK’s largest private owners of industrial and retail property. Its total commercial property portfolio runs to 14 million sq ft which is held for long term investment purposes.
