Senior or Principal Planner (Bristol)

Beach Baker have been retained by an expanding planning and design consultancy in Bristol, who are recruiting a Senior or Principal Planner to join their planning team.

This company have a strong commercial outlook, therefore they are looking for MRTPI-qualified Senior and Principal Planners with excellent commercial acumen to work on a variety of residential and commercial schemes, ranging from small to large in size. The successful candidates will be involved in all stages of the process, from acquisition through to attaining planning consent, and will definitely be kept busy – the firm have a full order book for the next 18 months! Your work will be wide-ranging and will include the following; preparation and submission of planning applications, promotion of developments (both brownfield and greenfield) through the LDP and undertaking research and site appraisals for the firm’s client base.

They offer an excellent mix of autonomy and team working, and there is no rigid pay or promotion structure in place – the Directors ensure that the working environment is modern and meritocratic. The majority of work is in the South-West, including complex high-rise schemes in Bristol city centre and greenbelt developments. Employees have client-exposure at all levels and they are exposed to a range of really interesting firms, including PLC housebuilders, investment funds and private developers. The company also undertake pro-bono work with a number of Bristol-based charities. You are also able to work across disciplines if this is of interest, including design / masterplanning.

Successful candidates will be MRTPI and client-facing, with experience on small to large development schemes in the residential and / or commercial sectors. You will either have experience within a consultancy, client-side organisation or public-sector firm, however you must be commercially astute and able to think both strategically and laterally.
