Associate Planner – Strategic Planning (Bristol)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Associate level Town Planner to join an expanding planning consultancy in Bristol. This firm are a multi-discipline organisation with planning at their core. They have a very strong name in the industry and a well-established client base.

This is a full-time position and offers the chance to work exciting variation of clients. This role is to compliment the strategic side of the business working on schemes mainly in the residential and mixed-use sectors but the team also work on some commercial, rural, heritage and energy schemes. We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in strategic planning and the following areas; assessing the impact of residential applications and economic development against planning objectives and strategic policies; preparation of evidence based work; coordination and preparation of appeals; coordination and implementation of strategies for development plan promotions; site promotion work including five year land supply; project management of schemes and appropriate delegation/mentoring to junior staff members; providing expert Town Planning advice to clients.

The successful candidate will be MRTPI qualified and ideally have experience that has been gained in a similar consultancy environment, however local authority experience will also be considered for the right candidate. You should have strong experience in policy and development plan promotions. You should have excellent report writing skills, presentation skills and be confident in client facing situations. You will be working as part of a team but should also be able to work independently to often tight deadlines. You should also have a good understanding of local and regional planning policy and be comfortable running larger scale projects. At this level you will be used to having business development activities as part of your role and be able to demonstrate a good contact base in the area.
