DTZ Surveyor cycles from Lands End to John O’Groats raising £5,000 for charity

Senior Surveyor at DTZ in Bristol, Christian Crawfurd, has cycled 895 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats raising £5,000 in support of Maggie’s, a charity providing centres in support of people affected by cancer.

Christian became aware of the work that Maggie’s do after a family member was diagnosed with a brain tumour. The care and support provided by Maggie’s inspired him to take on the challenge and give something back to the charity.

Joined on the ride by friend, Michael Parsons, who having previously been involved in a serious car accident chose to raise money for those who helped to save his life, Great Western Air Ambulance.

Despite wet weather conditions, a couple of punctures and a broken finger, the pair completed the ride in 12 days, a total of 70 hours in the saddle.

Christian commented: “During a difficult time for my family and I, we became aware of the fantastic care and support that Maggie’s provides, not only to those having treatment but to those closest to them. Maggie’s always has the time to offer support and advice to people suffering from the trauma of being diagnosed with and then living with cancer, whatever the circumstance.”

To date, along with DTZ’s Charity Matching support the pair have raised over £5,000 with further sponsorship still coming in via their JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/teams/cycleLEJOG.
